Informal but stylish dining in this refurbished Victorian mansion. A brasserie style menu fits well with the relaxed, contemporary design
A less formal place to dine than the Hotel Portmeirion Restaurant at the other end of the village, the Castell Deudraeth Bar and Grill has an up to the minute almost metropolitan feel with light wood tables and an attractive slate floor. There is an upbeat, easygoing feel to the place with little standing on ceremony and the emphasis firmly on offering good food accompanied by an extensive wine list.
In such a setting, the kitchen wisely resists the temptation to mess about too much and instead offers deliciously simple treatments of some excellent local produce with lobsters, crabs and scallops from the Llyn Peninsula, rock oysters from Anglesey and lamb from the farms around Bala.
