Founded in 1948, when local businessmen decided to bring the best of classical music to Swansea by inviting the likes of Adrian Boult, Thomas Beecham and John Barbirolli with the Hallé and the London Philharmonic Orchestras, the festival has grown over the intervening years to encompass two weeks every autumn.

  • Directions: By Car: approach Swansea via the M4 over the Briton Ferry Bridge – along Fabian Way, leading to the entrance into city centre (Quay Parade – alongside J Sainsbury Store), then passing Swansea Leisure Centre on your left. Get in the right-hand lane and turn up West Way through the traffic lights, turning right into the pay and display car park to the rear of the theatre.
    By Rail: Swansea station is situated in the High Street. There is a regular bus service to the Quadrant Bus Station alongside the theatre.
