Part of the attraction of this gorgeous Georgian country house is that it is set in the very heart of the wonderful Gower peninsula with all that area has to offer in terms of beauty and recreational opportunities. It must be said though that Fairyhill would have an allure wherever it was set, particularly if you took along the 20-odd acres of woodland and gardens that surround it as part of the package.

There is much of the classic top-end country house hotel about Fairyhill in respect of the luxury and comfort of the furnishings, the attention to detail and the attentive service.  But it’s not a large operation and there is a distinctive charm and personal character that make it a particularly special place to stay and eat.

Much of this derives from the owners Andrew Hetherington and Paul Davies who are very much part of the fabric here. Paul is also the chef and oversees a kitchen that has picked up many an award for its carefully crafted and often innovative cooking.

The lounge, bar and restaurant offer a precise mix of comfort and style with the warmth of log fires in winter and the not-to- be-missed opportunity to take a pre-dinner drink on the lawn in the summer. The bedrooms have a similar emphasis on comfort and the attention to detail is apparent in the many thoughtful extras provided in the rooms. Couple all this with the splendour of the Gower and you have a pretty irresistible package.
