Exciting new museum exploring how the industrial revolution shaped Wales

Wales’ newest museum has quickly established itself as a unique and utterly original exploration of the country’s industrial history and the influence of this history on the way we live today. Opened in 2005, the museum occupies a former dockside warehouse, originally built in 1901, and new, architect-designed buildings built between 2002 and 2004 to house the museum.

Industrialization came to Wales early, and the country went on to become one of the most heavily industrialized nations on Earth. There were rewards for this, but also harsh consequences. A visit to this museum will plunge you into a world of poverty, wealth, grime, danger and exploitation. You will discover how Wales’ industrial past affected its own people and the rest of the world.
