Hotel Portmeirion

Portmeirion, Gwynedd, LL48 6ET

Category: Hotels

Even if you were to take away Clough Williams-Ellis’s extraordinary Italianate village that forms the backdrop to the hotel, this would still be an incredible location. The views across the waters are outstanding and this has to be one of the most romantic locations to stay in the UK.

The hotel is settled almost on the waters edge, but a number of the bedroom are set further up the hill within the village of Portmeirion itself. As a consequence the rooms are very individual with all having their own special charm. Furnishings and décor also vary in style, but the consistent themes are luxury, quality, comfort and good taste.

The main hotel houses the seaward facing restaurant, recently the subject of a stunning ocean liner refurbishment designed by Sir Terence Conran. It offers a high quality menu with a kitchen that works hard to search out great Welsh produce and then applies a modern European style to the dishes. The lounges and bars in the hotel are great places to relax in front of roaring fires or watching the sun go down at the end of the day.
