Hotel Portmeirion Restaurant

Portmeirion, Gwynedd, LL48 6ET

Category: Restaurants

The hotel restaurant at Portmeirion has been an iconic place to eat since its construction as an extension to the main building in 1931. The views over the estuary are charming and now the interior has benefited from a Terence Conran-led redesign, with an ocean liner theme, it’s a more captivating place to dine than ever. Whilst the atmosphere is far from stuffy, there is an appropriate elegance and degree of finesse to eating here and it’s reflected in food that is produced with attention to detail, care in presentation and that displays a real pride in local produce.

There is some ambition too in what can be quite elaborate cooking, typical dishes being along the lines of fillet of Pen Llyn beef with seared foie gras on a bed of pulses and pancetta, or loin of Welsh lamb on a bed of garlic spinach with confit shallots and baby tomatoes.

Welsh traditional cuisine.
