Castell Deudraeth Bar & Grill

Portmeirion, Gwynedd, LL48 6ET

0870 042 4187

Category: Restaurants

A less formal place to dine than the Hotel Portmeirion Restaurant, which is at the other end of the village, the Castell Deudraeth Bar and Grill has an up-to-the-minute, almost metropolitan feel with light wood tables and an attractive slate floor. There is an upbeat, easygoing pace to the place with little standing on ceremony and the emphasis firmly on offering good food accompanied by an extensive wine list.

In such a setting, the kitchen wisely resists the temptation to mess about too much and instead offers deliciously simple treatments of some excellent local produce, such as lobsters, crabs and scallops from the Llyn Peninsula, rock oysters from Anglesey and lamb from the farms around Bala.

Local seafood, Welsh lamb.
