Historic coaching inn with contemporary comforts
Just a hop over the border with England you’ll find the historic village of Raglan and right at its heart is the Beaufort Arms - a 15th century coaching inn given a contemporary twist by new owners Eliot and Jane Lewis.
This is an ideal base for exploring the beauty and culture of the Wye Valley but you won’t have to travel far for to find history – the fireplace is rumoured to come from nearby Raglan Castle and there are underground wells and tunnels too.
The Beaufort Arms has 15 rooms, 10 in the main building, the remainder to be found in the converted stable block. All the rooms are individually decorated sympathetically combining old beams and wooden panelling with designer furniture, fabrics and fittings.
The Beaufort remains a village inn at heart though and offers a hospitable and relaxed environment to eat and drink whether it’s one of the award winning real ales and a pie in the bar or a dinner taken in the popular brasserie style restaurant.
