Y Polyn

Andy - visited in August 2008

Eaten here so many times, and everyone I’ve recommended it to thanks me, so I don’t think it will ever disappoint. If there’s one place in Wales with all round performance from the quality of the food, presentation, ambience, ‘relaxability’ (if there’s such a word!), and staff, then this is it. What I really like about Y Polyn, is its simplicity. It’s not trying to be anything other than itself and for me, it is a league ahead of the rest in the West. What makes the place really interesting is the modest owner who is actually a restaurant consultant who has worked with Gordon Ramsey on Kitchen Nightmares, so if he can’t get it right in his own place, then who can? Highly recommend the Pork Belly and the Sea Bass at Y Polyn, and some great local real ales there too. Downside....you’ll be wise to book in advance!
