B&B
Wales is not short of quaint old farmhouses of Victorian and Georgian vintage, but you won't come across too many that have the long heritage of Hafod-y-Garreg. Not surprising, as this charming B&B has been officially dated as the oldest inhabited dwelling in the country.
While it is no longer a working farm, the pretty gardens are still home to some rare traditional breeds of hen. They can provide you with some delicious eggs as part of an indulgent breakfast to be enjoyed in the majestic 15th century dining quarters, well 1402 to be exact. Fantastic candlelit dinners can be had here too, or, you can treat yourself to a meal out at one of the many excellent gastropubs nearby.
The local area is also blessed with a great deal of olde worlde charm. Much of the rolling landscape of larch woods and lush fields has probably changed little since this house was built in medieval times, providing a welcome stress-free oasis of peace and relaxation.
