Elegant and peaceful accommodation in a historic house with a gorgeous setting on the edge of Snowdonia
Plas Tan Yr Allt was once the home of Percy Bysshe Shelley and it’s not hard to see why it would have appealed to the poet as a place to write and contemplate. The easy elegance of the chalk white early 19th century building sits perfectly in the 47 acres of wooded cliffs that surround it and the views across the Glaslyn Estuary are magical.
The six rooms have been individually themed with care and an eye for quality with names drawn from many of the literary figures who were regular visitors to the house. The style is real country house indulgence but with a contemporary edge that allows for lots of in-room treats like CD and DVD players (there’s a lending library available).
Breakfasts are a tour de force of great Welsh produce and dinners are available by arrangement when they are served “en-famille” with other guests. It’s a charming and peaceful place to relax with a policy of not admitting anyone under 16 years being an added appeal for some.
