The tradition of grand country houses in the lovely Vale of Tywi, the ‘Garden of Wales’, has recently been revived by Caron and Fiona. And how! Ten years in the making, Llwyn Helyg is one of the most eye-opening properties we’ve ever seen. Acres of space within are surrounded by three acres of manicured grounds. Not even the grand entrance hall and oak staircase indicate what’s to come as you wander from room to room, all furnished with impeccable taste and uncompromising quality. ‘Where does the marble and granite end?’ you’ll think. It’s everywhere, on gleaming cream floors and panelling, in the amazing bathrooms (better than most top hotels) and cleverly carved as items of furniture. Llwyn Helyg’s Listening Room is an acoustically perfect space with an almost priceless HiFi sound system, used for themed musical evenings and breaks. This unique B&B redefines the category. What a find!
