Michael Winner likes this place, though we don’t know if that’s good or bad. For what it’s worth, we think it’s great too. Michael’s crab salad, consumed on the sunny terrace overlooking Cardigan Bay, was ‘remarkable’.
The Britannia, as anyone who knows this bijou little resort will tell you, is a popular waterside hostelry that still bears the hallmarks of its ancestry as a 17th-century coaching inn. Thanks to its enterprising hosts, Dieter and Emma Botchett, it has been refurbished and brought bang up to date, offering neat, high-quality bedrooms with their own private entrance.
Contemporary touches include crisp white linen, duck down duvets, flat screen TVs, iPod docking stations and WiFi. The Britannia- as Mr Winner testifies - is a leading player in Aberdyfi’s foodie scene. Seafood is a speciality - no big surprise, considering that it’s next door to the harbour.
