Caroline Downey’s art reflects the stunning countryside and lifestyle of the beautiful Llanthony Valley, where she lives and works. Her distinctive paintings are vivid and colourful and her visitors' book is full of flattering applause for her talent.
You’ll find on display the fascinating 'Sculptured Board' painting of the famous crooked Church of Cwmyoy that stands near her home. Its impressive layers of detail helped to win Caroline first prize in the prestigious worldwide Daler-Rowney Image & Story Competition. You’ll also spot her poignant painting portraying the recent foot-and-mouth crisis, 'After the Cull'.
Keep an eye out for the uniquely designed iron sculptures on display around the garden – Caroline’s husband is a talented blacksmith.
Caroline is the author and artist of the popular 'Proper Dragons Tales' storybooks that are set in the Black Mountains.
