There is real feeling of being away from it all at the Bell. The quiet, sleepy village location offers a rare, unspoilt beauty that makes it all the more thrilling to find that within the walls of the beautifully restored 17th-century coaching inn, you will find excellent dining based on the best of local produce (suppliers are listed proudly on the wall).
The refurbishment that took place in 2001 has been done with real style and sympathy with flagstone floors, oak beams and antique furniture giving the place real warmth and an easygoing charm that makes it impossible not to relax.
There is great walking around here, the ideal way to earn your supper and justify a selection from an award-winning wine list put together with real love by owners Janet and William Hutchings. When tiredness sets in, the lovely bedrooms (all named after fishing flies) are invitingly decked out with down duvets and Welsh woollen blankets as well as more modern comforts such as CD and DVD players. As a place to recharge your batteries and detach from the demands of every day life, The Bell doesn’t have many peers.
