We’re not saying that Ty Llwyd Hir is remote. But it’s a true away-from-it-all B&B, up in the hills between the Brecon Beacons and Carmarthenshire, where you can stargaze in dark skies by night and watch red kites by day.Follow the small farm lane off the A482 north of Llanwrda - it’s not far - to the converted farmhouse.
You’re greeted by three friendly donkeys and your equally welcoming hosts Jen and Philip Whittingham who have made their home in this utterly peaceful, unhurried spot. The bedrooms are comfortable and cosseting, with quality beds, crisp linen and goosedown duvets. Breakfasts are a rural treat, with homemade bread and eggs from Ty Llwyd Hir’s own hens.
This part of Wales might be quiet, yet its packed with activities and attractions. As well as superb walking, the National Botanic Gardens, Aberglasney and Dolaucothi Roman Gold Mines are all close by.
