You can almost touch the beach from the Ship. It’s the ultimate ‘beside the sea’ GLP, popular with families and in an idyllic location overlooking Tresaith Bay, one of the loveliest stretches of sand on the Cardigan Bay coast. The inn makes the most of its exceptional location. As you enjoy a drink on the heated sea terrace, see if you can spot the bottlenose dolphins and porpoises that thrive in Cardiganshire’s clear waters.

The bedrooms, decorated in that cool, clean, uncluttered modern look, also benefit from that amazing view, and two come with balconies. And, unsurprisingly, it’s seafood that steals the show on the Ship’s menus, which are constantly updated to reflect availability and the seasons. For yet more fabulous sea views, walk a stretch of the Ceredigion Coast Path, which runs past the front door. Your host at the Ship is Carl O’Shaughnessy.
