Do you want to stay at a traditional farmhouse but without the draughts and discomfort endured by farming folk of old? Then look no further than Bryn Melyn, a 200-year-old stone-built farmhouse that has been fully restored and luxuriously refurbished. Fabulous bathrooms, sumptuous bedrooms and comfortable, well-chosen furnishings are Bryn Melyn hallmarks, along with attention to detail.
The farmhouse accommodates 12-plus guests in six bedrooms, with two bathrooms and a downstairs shower room. There’s a spacious, homely kitchen/breakfast room, a more formal dining room with French windows opening onto the garden, restful sitting room – another large space – with woodburning stove and play/games room. Eirian Davies says that ‘goalposts and sledges’ are provided for outdoor games like football and tobogganing (snow permitting)! The farm couldn’t have a more appropriate location – it’s in the heart of the country in the Upper Dee Valley surrounded by southern Snowdonia’s finest landscapes.
The busy little lakeside town of Bala is close by, with a host of attractions including watersports, cycle routes and the delightful narrow-gauge Bala Lake Railway. For the ultimate white-water thrill go to the rafting centre on the River Tryweryn.
