These three luxury barn conversions come with more than a few wow factors, including private hot tubs, landscaped gardens and an amazing location. They are set in beautiful southern Snowdonia countryside on the doorstep of Bala and Llyn Tegid, the largest natural lake in Wales. This is traditional, Welsh-speaking Wales – and you can expect a warm, genuine Welsh welcome from super-friendly Sioned Llewelyn Williams, the mastermind behind the conversions.
Sioned and husband Gareth live in the adjacent farmhouse and are always on hand to offer help and advice, including local guiding for walkers. Two of the properties sleep four plus a small child. Tyddyn Lliw and Carreg y Nant are warm, cosy and comprehensively equipped, ideal for families or as romantic retreats. Y Beudy (The Cowshed), a beautifully converted 18th-century long barn, is larger, sleeping seven. This as an extremely child-friendly environment – Sioned even offers a child-minding service. And if you like your self-catering accommodation without the self-catering, she can also provide breakfasts and dinners. If you prefer, a 20-minute walk will take you to a good local pub serving food in the village of Llanuwchllyn.
The immediate locality, green and mountainous, is highly scenic and a magnet for walkers, cyclists and watersports enthusiasts – and those who like to seek out off-the-beaten track byways like Bwlch y Groes, the highest road in Wales. Neither is the coast far away – it’s just 20 miles to Barmouth.
