Try your hand at carding, spinning and sewing in this flagship museum, re-opened in 2004 following a major redevelopment. Its sympathetically restored buildings combine historical machinery with new features, including a raised walkway that gives a unique view of textiles in production at the site’s commercial wool mill.

The tale of the Welsh wool industry – historically the country’s most important and widespread industry – is told in an informative and accessible style, making this attraction ideal for all ages. When the wool industry was at its height, shirts and shawls, blankets and bedcovers, woollen stockings and socks were manufactured here and then distributed all over the world. You can still buy beautiful woollen products in the museum’s shop, whilst the nearby picturesque village of Drefach-Felindre, set in the lovely Teifi valley, is a fine destination in its own right.
